Nature connection workshop at Lovebrook, Lewes, Sussex.

Hosted by Patrick Kerry.

We were invited to host a bird habitat making workshop at Lovebrook, in Kingston, Near Lewes. Lovebrook is a community interest company (Lovebrook for more information). They host community volunteer sessions on a Monday aimed to increase biodiversity on the farm, and volunteer sessions on a Tuesday structured around the market garden. We were invited to lead a workshop to help increase biodiversity in the form of making space for target species, namely Swallows and House Martins, as well as making hunting perches for Birds of prey. Which aligns with the Barn Owl box making session the we did with Rich of Lovebrook in January and further aligns with the market garden and keeping the numbers of small Mammals manageable, in a natural way. The market garden is surrounded by meadow with clumps and a number of small Mammal sized tunnels through the grass to join them all up. It is these Mammals that the Barn Owl comes to hunt for during most of the evenings now, having been spotted on the far side of the farm only a couple of times previously.

Note : We will be leading further workshops in the future, get in touch to be informed of when.

We are excited to add more elements of nature habitat to the farm and to create space for species in a more targeted way, leading with educating, with community surrounding the projects.

Completed 10/02/2025.
